Looking Beyond the Hoover Power Scrub Deluxe Carpet Cleaner? 6 Alternatives Worth a Look
As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Links on this page are affiliate links.
The Hoover Power Scrub Deluxe Carpet Cleaner Machine handles deep cleaning with its 360-degree counter-rotating brushes and forced heated air. It separates clean and dirty water in a dual tank system and mixes detergent automatically. These specs help you remove stubborn stains and dry carpets faster. However, you might need a different form factor or size. The upright design is 21 inches long and 14 inches wide. This footprint may not fit tight spaces or small rooms.
We selected these 6 hoover power scrub deluxe carpet cleaner alternatives because their specifications overlap with the original machine. Some options offer portable designs for upholstery, while others provide larger tanks for wall-to-wall carpets. You can choose a cordless model for stairs or a pet-specific upright for heavy hair. Each alternative targets specific cleaning needs that the standard upright might not address. Review the dimensions, weight, and special features to find the right fit for your home.
Our top pick: Hoover Power Scrub Deluxe Upright Carpet Cleaner.
How the Alternatives Compare
Bissell Little Green Portable Spot Cleaner
The Bissell Little Green Portable Spot Cleaner differs significantly in form factor. While the Hoover Power Scrub Deluxe is an upright machine measuring 23 inches high and 14 inches wide, this Bissell model is a compact, portable unit. It is designed for targeted stain removal on upholstery and small areas rather than large wall-to-wall carpet jobs. You lose the automatic detergent mixing and the large dual-tank capacity found in the Hoover. However, you gain a tool that is easier to store and maneuver for spot cleaning. If your primary need is treating spills on furniture or small rugs, this portable option is more practical than the larger upright cleaner.
Shark StainStriker Portable Spot Cleaner
The Shark StainStriker Portable Spot Cleaner is another portable alternative, focused on pet-related messes. Unlike the upright Hoover Power Scrub, this Shark unit is a handheld device suitable for upholstery and stairs. It targets pet stains and odors specifically, whereas the Hoover is built for general carpet deep cleaning. You give up the wide cleaning path and the forced heated air drying system of the Hoover. In exchange, you get a lightweight tool that is easier to carry up stairs or around furniture. If you deal with frequent pet accidents on soft furnishings, this portable cleaner offers a more convenient solution than the bulky upright machine.
Shark CarpetXpert Upright Carpet Cleaner
The Shark CarpetXpert Upright Carpet Cleaner is a direct competitor in the upright form factor. It measures 43.5 inches high and weighs 17 pounds, making it taller but slightly lighter than the Hoover Power Scrub. This model emphasizes high-pressure spray and powerful suction for deep cleaning. It is specifically marketed for households with pets and large carpeted areas requiring thorough odor removal. While the Hoover relies on 360-degree counter-rotating brushes, the Shark focuses on spray pressure and suction power. If you prioritize strong suction and pet-specific cleaning performance over the Hoover’s automatic detergent mixing, this upright alternative is a strong consideration.
Hoover SmartWash Automatic Carpet Cleaner
The Hoover SmartWash Automatic Carpet Cleaner shares the brand but offers a different cleaning experience. This model is an automatic cleaner designed for set-it-and-forget-it operation on wall-to-wall carpeting. It features automatic mixing and drying features to reduce user effort. The Hoover Power Scrub Deluxe requires manual operation and manual tank emptying. The SmartWash is wider at 23.2 inches and heavier at 18.5 pounds compared to the Power Scrub. If you want a hands-off approach to deep cleaning large areas and prefer automatic dosing over manual control, this automatic model is the better choice over the Power Scrub Deluxe.
Shark CarpetXpert HairPro Upright Carpet Cleaner
The Shark CarpetXpert HairPro Upright Carpet Cleaner is another upright option, tailored for pet owners. It measures 44.1 inches high and weighs 20.7 pounds, making it taller and heavier than the Hoover Power Scrub. This model focuses on tangle-free cleaning to handle embedded hair without clogs. It prioritizes easy maneuverability and odor removal. You give up the automatic detergent mixing found in the Hoover. Instead, you get a machine designed to prevent hair wrap and maintain suction efficiency. If you have significant pet hair issues and value clog-resistant performance over automatic mixing, this upright cleaner is a practical alternative.
Vacmaster 600 Series Cordless Portable Carpet Cleaner
The Vacmaster 600 Series Cordless Portable Carpet Cleaner is a cordless portable unit, unlike the corded upright Hoover. It weighs 10.4 pounds, making it significantly lighter and easier to carry. This model is ideal for spot cleaning stairs and upholstery quickly. You lose the deep cleaning power and large water tanks of the Hoover. However, you gain the convenience of cordless mobility and a compact design. If you need to clean hard-to-reach areas like stairs or furniture without dealing with cords and heavy machinery, this portable cordless cleaner is a more suitable choice than the full-sized upright machine.
