Hoover SmartWash Pet Carpet Cleaner Alternatives: 6 Similar Picks Compared

How the Alternatives Differ

Hoover SmartWash+ Automatic Carpet Cleaner

The Hoover SmartWash+ Automatic Carpet Cleaner shares the same automatic push-to-clean design as the original, but it weighs 2 pounds less at 18.5 pounds. This lighter build makes it easier to maneuver across large rooms. It keeps the 13-inch cleaning path and 43.5-inch height, ensuring compatibility with standard furniture clearance. Unlike the pet-specific model, this version features a turquoise finish and lacks dedicated pet brushes. It is ideal if you want hands-free operation without the specialized odor-resistant components. You still get auto-mix technology for consistent solution dispensing. Choose this if you prefer a lighter machine for general carpet maintenance rather than targeted pet stain removal.

Bissell ProHeat 2X Revolution Pet Upright Carpet Cleaner

The Bissell ProHeat 2X Revolution Pet Upright Carpet Cleaner is significantly lighter at 17.5 pounds, making it easier to carry up stairs or store. It has a narrower 12.5-inch width, which may improve maneuverability in tight spaces. This model is not automatic; you must manually trigger the cleaning solution and extraction. It trades the convenience of motion-sensing technology for a lower price point. The 15-inch length is shorter than the original, creating a more compact profile. It targets pets and stains similarly but requires more physical effort to operate. Pick this option if you prioritize budget and portability over automatic cleaning features and do not mind manual scrubbing for tough spots.

Tineco CARPET ONE Lightweight Carpet Cleaner

The Tineco CARPET ONE Lightweight Carpet Cleaner is a portable unit designed for spot cleaning and upholstery care rather than whole-room deep cleaning. It weighs significantly less than the upright models, though exact weight is not listed. Its 11.4-inch length and 16.3-inch width create a unique footprint suited for furniture and stairs. It lacks the automatic solution mixing of the original Hoover, focusing instead on strong suction for fast drying. This machine is best for targeted stain removal on upholstery, car interiors, or small rug areas. If you need a versatile tool for multiple surfaces and quick spot treatments, this portable option is a practical alternative to a bulky upright cleaner.

Hoover SmartWash+ Automatic Upright Carpet Cleaner

The Hoover SmartWash+ Automatic Upright Carpet Cleaner is another automatic option from the same brand, sharing the hands-free push-to-clean mechanism. It is white in color, distinguishing it visually from the purple original. This model targets both pets and general stains, offering versatility for mixed cleaning needs. It lacks specific weight and dimension data in the provided list, but maintains the upright form factor. It is suitable for large carpeted areas where consistent automatic cleaning is required. You get the benefit of auto-mix technology without the specialized pet brush system. Choose this if you want a reliable automatic cleaner for broad coverage and do not need the specific pet-focused attachments included with the original model.

Bissell ProHeat 2X Revolution Pet Upright Carpet Cleaner

The Bissell ProHeat 2X Revolution Pet Upright Carpet Cleaner (model 1548) is identical in dimensions and weight to the other Bissell variant listed. It weighs 17.5 pounds and measures 12.5 inches wide by 15 inches long. Like its counterpart, it requires manual operation rather than automatic motion sensing. It includes dedicated tools for stairs and upholstery, which the original Hoover does not emphasize in its core feature set. This model is a practical choice for pet owners who need specialized attachments for hard-to-reach areas. It offers faster drying capabilities compared to heavier rental-style machines. Select this if you value manual control and specific stair tools over the convenience of an automatic cleaning system.

Bissell Little Green Deluxe Portable Carpet Cleaner

The Bissell Little Green Deluxe Portable Carpet Cleaner is a compact unit designed for targeted cleaning rather than whole-room coverage. It weighs only 9.7 pounds, making it the lightest option in this comparison. Its small footprint of 11 inches wide and 19.3 inches long allows for easy storage and transport. This portable cleaner is ideal for spot cleaning stairs, upholstery, and car interiors. It lacks the automatic features and wide cleaning path of the original Hoover upright. You must manually apply solution and extract dirt. Choose this model if your primary need is removing specific stains from furniture or vehicles rather than cleaning large carpeted areas efficiently.
