5 Best Alternatives to the Hoover CleanSlate Plus Portable Carpet (2026)

How these alternatives compare

Shark StainStriker Portable Carpet Cleaner

The Shark StainStriker Portable Carpet Cleaner weighs 8.51 pounds, making it slightly lighter than the 9.4-pound Hoover CleanSlate Plus. It features a 7-inch WidePath tool similar to the Hoover, but also includes a 3.5-inch TightSpot attachment for crevices. The Shark offers versatile spot cleaning for stairs and upholstery. You gain flexibility with the smaller tool but may find the overall footprint similar. This option suits users who want comparable cleaning width with additional reach for tight spaces. It maintains the portable form factor while providing a different tool configuration for varied mess types.

Shark StainForce Cordless Spot Cleaner

The Shark StainForce Cordless Spot Cleaner is significantly lighter at 6.3 pounds compared to the Hoover CleanSlate Plus. It removes the power cord for outlet-free cleaning in cars or on stairs. You trade the 40 oz tank capacity for a more compact, caddy-stored design. The dimensions are much narrower, measuring 2.68 inches wide. This model targets odor and stains without the bulk of a larger water tank. It is ideal if you prioritize portability and storage convenience over raw solution capacity. The cordless feature allows for unrestricted movement in vehicles or high stairs where cords are inconvenient.

Uwant 18Kpa Portable Carpet Cleaner

The Uwant 18Kpa Portable Carpet Cleaner weighs only 5 pounds, making it the lightest option here. It delivers 18 kPa of suction, focusing on high-power extraction rather than large tank volumes. It includes four specialized cleaning tools for targeted vehicle and upholstery work. The design is compact, measuring 17 inches long but only 8 inches wide. You give up the larger tank of the Hoover for a highly portable, lightweight unit. This choice is best for users who clean cars or small upholstery areas frequently. The high suction helps lift deep stains in tight spaces without the weight of a full water tank.

Hoover Spotless Mini Pet Portable Spot Cleaner

The Hoover Spotless Mini Pet Portable Spot Cleaner weighs just 6 pounds, significantly lighter than the 9.4-pound CleanSlate Plus. It is designed specifically for small pet messes on stairs and cars. The unit measures 11.5 inches in both length and width, creating a very compact footprint. It includes self-cleaning features to maintain hygiene. You sacrifice the 40 oz tank and 7-inch cleaning width for extreme portability. This model suits users who need a lightweight tool for quick cleanup of small spills. It is less effective for large area cleaning but excels in tight, hard-to-reach spots where the larger Hoover cannot fit easily.

Ailltopd Portable Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner

The Ailltopd Portable Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner emphasizes suction power and self-cleaning convenience. It lacks a specified weight in the data but focuses on strong extraction for tough pet stains. The unit includes self-cleaning functionality to flush residual dirt. You prioritize maintenance ease and suction over the specific tank size of the Hoover CleanSlate Plus. The dimensions are 12.8 inches wide and 12.1 inches high. This option is practical for users who want to minimize cleaning effort after use. It offers a robust solution for pet-related messes with a focus on keeping the machine clean without manual rinsing.

The Kenmore 17kPa Portable Carpet Cleaner features dual tanks with 0.6 gallons of clean solution and 0.5 gallons of dirty water. This is a larger capacity than the 40 oz tank of the Hoover CleanSlate Plus. It weighs 11.4 pounds, making it heavier than the Hoover. The unit delivers 17 kPa of suction for focused stain jobs. It is suitable for cleaning rugs, furniture, and car seats. You gain more solution capacity and higher suction power but accept a heavier, bulkier machine. This choice is best for users who need to clean larger areas or tougher stains without frequent tank emptying.
